Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Jay DeFeo achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in November 2018. In the Post-War and Contemporary Art Morning Session auction, the work Untitled (Rear Window series) sold for USD 67,500.00 (€ 59,613.18) - well above the upper estimate of USD 30,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jay DeFeo - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Temple (For W.B.), which sold at auction in September 2013 for USD 233,000.00 (€ 172,146.29).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Jay DeFeo erzielte im November 2018 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Art Morning Session wurde die Arbeit Untitled (Rear Window series) für USD 67.500,00 (€ 59.613,18) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 30.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Jay DeFeo mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Temple (For W.B.) beobachtet, die im September 2013 für USD 233.000,00 (€ 172.146,29) versteigert wurde.
