In March last year Bonhams in Los Angeles held the auction Prints & Multiples, which included the work Target with Four Faces by Jasper Johns. The »bidding war« ended at USD 50,312.50 (€ 45,355.18), 44% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jasper Johns achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Small False Start in November last year with an auction result of USD 55,350,000.00 (€ 53,618,134.26).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 44 % übertroffen
Im März letzten Jahres führte Bonhams in Los Angeles die Auktion Prints & Multiples durch, in der auch die Arbeit Target with Four Faces von Jasper Johns zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 50.312,50 (€ 45.355,18) und damit 44% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jasper Johns erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Small False Start im November letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 55.350.000,00 (€ 53.618.134,26).
