JANNIS KOUNELLIS (1936-2017) Three works by the artist Including: Frammenti di Danza , the complete set comprising of six photogravures and one drypoint, on Zerkall rag paper, 1982, each signed and numbered 32/75 in pencil; The Gospel According to Thomas , the complete set of twelve terragraph prints (red sand, lacquer, glue), 2000, each signed and numbered 6/38 in pencil; and The Minotaur , the complete set of eight screenprints with oil base, on Arches paper, 2003, signed in pencil, numbered 10/25 Largest Sheet: 42 x 31 3 ⁄ 4 in. (1060 x 805 mm.)
Auction result well in line with expectations
In April this year Christies in New York held the auction The Sale of the Century: An Important Corporate Collection of Prints and Multiples: Online, which included the work Three works by the artist by Jannis Kounellis. The price achieved of USD 4,788.00 (€ 4,336.96) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 3,600.00 – 5,400.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jannis Kounellis achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sans titre in October 2016 with an auction result of EUR 1,562,500.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im April diesen Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion The Sale of the Century: An Important Corporate Collection of Prints and Multiples: Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit Three works by the artist von Jannis Kounellis zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 4.788,00 (€ 4.336,96) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 3.600,00 – 5.400,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jannis Kounellis erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Sans titre im Oktober 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 1.562.500,00.
