This artwork by Jan van der Straet achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2016. In the Old Master Drawings and British Drawings and Watercolours auction, the work The Madonna feeding the Christ Child in a cradle, with Saint Joseph and attendant angels ( recto ); Study of a procession ( verso ) sold for GBP 2,125.00 (€ 2,484.47) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan van der Straet achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work "Caccia All'Elefante"; An Extensive Landscape With An Elephant Hunt in December 2012 with an auction result of GBP 241,250.00 (€ 297,528.25).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 77 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Jan van der Straet erzielte im Dezember 2016 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Master Drawings and British Drawings and Watercolours wurde die Arbeit The Madonna feeding the Christ Child in a cradle, with Saint Joseph and attendant angels ( recto ); Study of a procession ( verso ) für GBP 2.125,00 (€ 2.484,47) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 1.200,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jan van der Straet erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit "Caccia All'Elefante"; An Extensive Landscape With An Elephant Hunt im Dezember 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 241.250,00 (€ 297.528,25).
