This artwork by Jan van der Straet achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in July 2018. In the Old Master & British Works on Paper auction, the work 'Sardonicus': A Sardinian Horse sold for GBP 21,250.00 (€ 23,825.92) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 9,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan van der Straet achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work "Caccia All'Elefante"; An Extensive Landscape With An Elephant Hunt in December 2012 with an auction result of GBP 241,250.00 (€ 297,528.25).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Jan van der Straet erzielte im Juli 2018 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Master & British Works on Paper wurde die Arbeit 'Sardonicus': A Sardinian Horse für GBP 21.250,00 (€ 23.825,92) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 9.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jan van der Straet erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit "Caccia All'Elefante"; An Extensive Landscape With An Elephant Hunt im Dezember 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 241.250,00 (€ 297.528,25).
