Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Recto: A Mountainous Landscape; Verso: Sketch Of A Banner Or Coat Of Arms With Six Crescents by Jan van der Straet was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2015, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 4,750.00 (€ 6,733.90). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan van der Straet achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work "Caccia All'Elefante"; An Extensive Landscape With An Elephant Hunt in December 2012 with an auction result of GBP 241,250.00 (€ 297,528.25).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Recto: A Mountainous Landscape; Verso: Sketch Of A Banner Or Coat Of Arms With Six Crescents von Jan van der Straet im Juli 2015 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 4.750,00 (€ 6.733,90) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jan van der Straet erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit "Caccia All'Elefante"; An Extensive Landscape With An Elephant Hunt im Dezember 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 241.250,00 (€ 297.528,25).
