In October 2007 Christies in London held the auction British, Continental & Russian Pictures, which included the work A peaceful day on the river by Jan van Couver. The price achieved of GBP 1,375.00 (€ 1,974.59) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,200.00 – 1,800.00. Other works by Jan van Couver have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in September 2005 the work Dutch village on a canal was auctioned for USD 3,840.00 (€ 3,184.61).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 1.375,00 (€ 1.974,59) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 1.200,00 – 1.800,00 angegeben worden. Andere Arbeiten von Jan van Couver konnten bereits höhere Auktionspreise erzielen, so wurde im September 2005 die Arbeit Dutch village on a canal für USD 3.840,00 (€ 3.184,61) versteigert.
