Sold at the lower estimate price
In April 2017 Sothebys in New York held the auction Photographs, which included the work 'James Van Der Zee: Eighteen Photographs' by Jan van der Zee. The result of USD 15,000.00 (€ 13,767.78) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jan van der Zee - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Untitled (West 127th Street, Harlem), 1932, which sold at auction in December 2011 for USD 52,500.00 (€ 40,468.67).
