The result of USD 10,000.00 (€ 8,282.26) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 10,000.00 – 12,000.00. Admittedly, works by Jan van der Zee have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Untitled (West 127th Street, Harlem), 1932 in December 2011 with an auction result of USD 52,500.00 (€ 40,468.67).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Die Arbeit 'James Van Der Zee: Eighteen Photographs' von Jan van der Zee wurde im April 2018 in der Auktion Photographs bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 10.000,00 (€ 8.282,26) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 10.000,00 – 12.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jan van der Zee auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Untitled (West 127th Street, Harlem), 1932 im Dezember 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 52.500,00 (€ 40.468,67).
