Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by James Tower achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in June 2021. In the Modern & Post War British Art Day Sale auction, the work Nebulae sold for GBP 21,420.00 (€ 24,959.87) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 10,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by James Tower; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Ribbed Chest Form sold at auction in September 2018 with the realized price of GBP 23,750.00 (€ 26,674.30).

Dieses Kunstwerk von James Tower erzielte im Juni 2021 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern & Post War British Art Day Sale wurde die Arbeit Nebulae für GBP 21.420,00 (€ 24.959,87) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 10.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von James Tower; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Ribbed Chest Form im September 2018 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 23.750,00 (€ 26.674,30).
