Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A saddled grey thoroughbred racehorse being held by a groom by James Seymour was auctioned at Christies in London in March 2017. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 43,750.00 (€ 51,270.68) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by James Seymour have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Lord Portmore's 'Snap', a saddled chestnut hunter held by a groom, with a setter in a landscape in July 2021 with an auction result of GBP 275,000.00 (€ 322,494.52).

Die Arbeit A saddled grey thoroughbred racehorse being held by a groom von James Seymour kam im März 2017 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 43.750,00 (€ 51.270,68) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von James Seymour auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Lord Portmore's 'Snap', a saddled chestnut hunter held by a groom, with a setter in a landscape im Juli 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 275.000,00 (€ 322.494,52).
