Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2013 Christies in London held the auction Sporting & Wildlife Art, which included the work A gentleman riding out, with his whippet by James Seymour. The price achieved of GBP 3,750.00 (€ 4,512.62) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Seymour achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Lord Portmore's 'Snap', a saddled chestnut hunter held by a groom, with a setter in a landscape in July 2021 with an auction result of GBP 275,000.00 (€ 322,494.52).
