This artwork by James Elwood Reynolds achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in March 2008. In the American Paintings auction, the work Tall In The Saddle sold for USD 55,000.00 (€ 34,799.11) - well above the upper estimate of USD 30,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by James Elwood Reynolds; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Touch and Go sold at auction in February 2019 with the realized price of USD 43,750.00 (€ 38,448.02).
