Artwork auctioned at seven times the upper estimate price
The work The blind Hurdy-Gurdy Player (Walch 21; Worthen-Reed 26; Thuillier 83; Reed 192) by Jacques Bellange was worth GBP 5,875.00 (€ 9,358.82) to a buyer in December 2000. This price was achieved in the auction OLD MASTER, MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY PRINTS at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 800.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jacques Bellange - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Martyrdom Of Saint Andrew, which sold at auction in July 2014 for GBP 27,500.00 (€ 34,686.15).
