Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2003 Christies in London held the auction IMPORTANT GOLD BOXES,OBJECTS OF VERTU & PORTRAIT MINIATURES, which included the work A Naval Officer, in profile to the left in blue coat with gold-embroidered black collar, gold and silver epaulette, black stock, wearing the badge of the Royal Swedish Order of the Sword (4th class) by Jacob Axel Gillberg. It changed hands for a price of GBP 573.60 (€ 824.29) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 400.00 – 600.00. Admittedly, works by Jacob Axel Gillberg have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A young Hussar, facing right in fur-bordered blue coat with gold brocade, white ribbon tied on his left elbow, red waistcoat with gold loops, blue and gold sash, lace cravat and black stock, fair hair dressed in plaits, beard in November 2001 with an auction result of GBP 4,465.00 (€ 7,105.22).

Im Juni 2003 führte Christies in London die Auktion IMPORTANT GOLD BOXES,OBJECTS OF VERTU & PORTRAIT MINIATURES durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Naval Officer, in profile to the left in blue coat with gold-embroidered black collar, gold and silver epaulette, black stock, wearing the badge of the Royal Swedish Order of the Sword (4th class) von Jacob Axel Gillberg zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 573,60 (€ 824,29) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 400,00 – 600,00.
