Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2002 Christies in London held the auction Twentieth Century British Art, which included the work Sounds, Silences & Light (Diamond Shape) by Jack Smith. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,057.50 (€ 1,635.71) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jack Smith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Interior With Figures in July 2008 with an auction result of GBP 51,650.00 (€ 65,621.91).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juni 2002 führte Christies in London die Auktion Twentieth Century British Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Sounds, Silences & Light (Diamond Shape) von Jack Smith zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 1.057,50 (€ 1.635,71) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jack Smith erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Interior With Figures im Juli 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 51.650,00 (€ 65.621,91).
