Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Yellow Tulips by Jack Mendenhall was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in September 2012, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 13,750.00 (€ 10,695.40). Other works by Jack Mendenhall have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in March 2009 by the work Mirrored Table With Decanters at USD 27,500.00 (€ 20,737.50).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Yellow Tulips von Jack Mendenhall im September 2012 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 15.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 13.750,00 (€ 10.695,40) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von Jack Mendenhall wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im März 2009 die Arbeit Mirrored Table With Decanters mit USD 27.500,00 (€ 20.737,50).
