This artwork by Irene Rice Pereira achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in March last year. In the Modern Discoveries auction, the work Fluctuating sold for USD 56,700.00 (€ 51,113.31) - well above the upper estimate of USD 30,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Irene Rice Pereira; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Untitled (Generator) sold at auction in May last year with the realized price of USD 60,480.00 (€ 56,360.08).
