This artwork by Iran do Espírito Santo achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in March 2013. In the Passion + Transmission: International Contemporary Art from the CAP Collection auction, the work Grande Vela sold for USD 43,750.00 (€ 34,137.02) - well above the upper estimate of USD 20,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Iran do Espírito Santo; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Buraco de fechadura (Keyhole) sold at auction in May 2016 with the realized price of USD 56,250.00 (€ 50,516.39).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Iran do Espírito Santo erzielte im März 2013 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Passion + Transmission: International Contemporary Art from the CAP Collection wurde die Arbeit Grande Vela für USD 43.750,00 (€ 34.137,02) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 20.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Iran do Espírito Santo; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Buraco de fechadura (Keyhole) im Mai 2016 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 56.250,00 (€ 50.516,39).
