Sold at the upper estimate price
In May 2016 Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Fine Chinese Modern Paintings, which included the work Spring by Huang Yao. The auction ended at the price of HKD 250,000.00 (€ 28,895.37), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of HKD 180,000.00 – 250,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Huang Yao - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Riding the Dragon, which sold at auction in November 2012 for HKD 740,000.00 (€ 73,374.33).
