The work Riding the Dragon by Huang Yao was worth HKD 740,000.00 (€ 73,374.33) to a buyer in November 2012. This price was achieved in the auction Fine Chinese Modern Paintings at Christies in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 200,000.00 many times over. This high result makes Riding the Dragon the most expensive artwork by Huang Yao that we have observed at auctions so far.
