Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Playing Chess by Huang Yao was worth HKD 680,000.00 (€ 70,837.92) to a buyer in May 2012. This price was achieved in the auction Fine Chinese Modern Paintings at Christies in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 200,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Huang Yao; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Riding the Dragon sold at auction in November 2012 with the realized price of HKD 740,000.00 (€ 73,374.33).

Die Arbeit Playing Chess von Huang Yao war einem Käufer im Mai 2012 HKD 680.000,00 (€ 70.837,92) wert. Dieser Preise wurde in der Auktion Fine Chinese Modern Paintings bei Christies in Hong Kong erzielt und übertraf den zuvor angesetzten oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 200.000,00 um ein Vielfaches. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Huang Yao; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Riding the Dragon im November 2012 mit dem Hammerpreis von HKD 740.000,00 (€ 73.374,33).
