A top price for Hosoda Eishi
When the work Hosoda Eishi (1756-1829) by Hosoda Eishi was auctioned at Christies in New York in March 2007, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 1,800.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at USD 5,400.00 (€ 4,037.69). This high result makes Hosoda Eishi (1756-1829) the most expensive artwork by Hosoda Eishi that we have observed at auctions so far.
