Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Swiss Welder, later 1940s; and Worker in a Kibbutz, Palestine, c. 1939 by Helmar Lerski was sold in the Photographs auction at Christies in New York in February 2008. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 4,375.00 (€ 2,880.75) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Helmar Lerski achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Five works from Metamorphosis Through Light, Tel Aviv, 1936 in April 2019 with an auction result of USD 52,500.00 (€ 46,870.82).
