Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Maison Pen ar C'hastel à la pointe du Château, Perros-Guirrec by Gustave Cariot was auctioned at Christies in London in March this year, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - GBP 8,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at GBP 27,720.00 (€ 31,536.85). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gustave Cariot - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Prairial, which sold at auction in November 2015 for USD 131,250.00 (€ 124,266.24).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Maison Pen ar C'hastel à la pointe du Château, Perros-Guirrec von Gustave Cariot im März diesen Jahres bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – GBP 8.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit GBP 27.720,00 (€ 31.536,85) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von Gustave Cariot mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Prairial beobachtet, die im November 2015 für USD 131.250,00 (€ 124.266,24) versteigert wurde.
