Auction result misses estimated price range

When the work Matron (Da-Sho-Ya) by Grace Carpenter Hudson was auctioned at Christies in Los Angeles in November 2001, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 18,800.00 (€ 20,986.83). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Grace Carpenter Hudson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Watermelon 24 x 29 1/2 in. framed 31 x 37 in., which sold at auction in November last year for USD 69,675.00 (€ 67,494.91).

Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne

Als die Arbeit Matron (Da-Sho-Ya) von Grace Carpenter Hudson im November 2001 bei Christies in Los Angeles versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 18.800,00 (€ 20.986,83) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Grace Carpenter Hudson mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Watermelon 24 x 29 1/2 in. framed 31 x 37 in. beobachtet, die im November letzten Jahres für USD 69.675,00 (€ 67.494,91) versteigert wurde.
