engraving, 1540, with an indistinct double encircled Fleur-de-Lys watermark, a good impression of this rare print, with margins, a central vertical fold, a waterstain at the right of the image, mainly visible on the reverse, scattered foxing at the upper sheet edge, and occasionally on the reverse, minor defects at the reverse sheet corners from previous mounting, otherwise in good condition

Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work David cutting off the Head of Goliath, after Giulio Romano by Giovanni Battista Scultori was auctioned at Christies in London in June 2000. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 2,500.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 2,820.00 (€ 4,470.05). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Giovanni Battista Scultori - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Resurrection, which sold at auction in December 2019 for GBP 8,125.00 (€ 9,602.80).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit David cutting off the Head of Goliath, after Giulio Romano von Giovanni Battista Scultori kam im Juni 2000 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 2.500,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 2.820,00 (€ 4.470,05) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Giovanni Battista Scultori mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Resurrection beobachtet, die im Dezember 2019 für GBP 8.125,00 (€ 9.602,80) versteigert wurde.
