This artwork by Giovanni Battista Lusieri achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in January 2010. In the Important Old Master Paintings and Sculpture auction, the work View Of Lake Averno sold for USD 386,500.00 (€ 278,658.98) - well above the upper estimate of USD 150,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Giovanni Battista Lusieri; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Panoramic view of Rome from Piazza San Pietro in Montorio on the Janiculum: From Saint Peter's to the Chiesa Nuova with San Giovanni dei Fiorentini and Castel Sant' Angelo sold at auction in July 2013 with the realized price of GBP 481,875.00 (€ 550,626.18).
