Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A panoramic view of Rome from the Aventine Hill towards the South by Giovanni Battista Lusieri was auctioned at Christies in London in July this year. The price achieved of GBP 126,000.00 (€ 147,003.81) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 100,000.00 – 150,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Giovanni Battista Lusieri - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Panoramic view of Rome from Piazza San Pietro in Montorio on the Janiculum: From Saint Peter's to the Chiesa Nuova with San Giovanni dei Fiorentini and Castel Sant' Angelo, which sold at auction in July 2013 for GBP 481,875.00 (€ 550,626.18).
