GILLES BENSIMON (B. 1944) Christy in the Hills, 1995 archival pigment print, flush mounted on board embossed photographer's credit (margin); signed, titled, dated and numbered '1/6' in ink on affixed artist's label (frame backing board) image: 24 1/2 x 29 1/2 in. (54.6 x 74.9 cm.) sheet/flush mount: 30 1/2 x 36 in. (77.4 x 91.4 cm.) This work is number one from an edition of six.
Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Christy in the Hills, 1995 by Gilles Bensimon was auctioned at Christies in New York in October last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 6,300.00 (€ 6,341.86) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gilles Bensimon - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Elle and Friends Number 3, which sold at auction in May last year for GBP 12,600.00 (€ 14,822.70).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Christy in the Hills, 1995 von Gilles Bensimon kam im Oktober letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 6.300,00 (€ 6.341,86) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Gilles Bensimon mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Elle and Friends Number 3 beobachtet, die im Mai letzten Jahres für GBP 12.600,00 (€ 14.822,70) versteigert wurde.
