Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Il trenino della Val Gardena, Ortisei, (The little train, Val Gardena, Ortisei) 1958 by Gianni Berengo Gardin was sold in the Masterworks of Italian Photography 1945-1975 From the Collection of Paolo Morello auction at Christies in London in June 2012. The price achieved of GBP 5,000.00 (€ 6,191.19) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Admittedly, works by Gianni Berengo Gardin have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Vaporetto, 1960 in June 2012 with an auction result of GBP 23,750.00 (€ 29,408.15).
