GERHARD MERZ (B. 1947) Architekturen (Architectures) the complete set of three offset lithographs and three screenprints in colors, on Fabriano wove paper, 1992, Und macht die Luft vor Klarheit erzittern signed and numbered 39/40 in pencil on the reverse (there were also eight artist's proof sets), published by Edition Schellmann, Munich and New York, with full margins, in very good condition Each Sheet: 18 7 ⁄ 8 x 25 5 ⁄ 8 in. (479 x 645 mm.)
Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Gerhard Merz could be acquired at Christies in New York in April this year for an unexpectedly low price. In the The Sale of the Century: An Important Corporate Collection of Prints and Multiples: Online auction, the work Architekturen (Architectures) changed hands for USD 252.00 (€ 228.26) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 800.00 – 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gerhard Merz achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Ohne Titel in December 2013 with an auction result of EUR 25,000.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Gerhard Merz konnte im April diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion The Sale of the Century: An Important Corporate Collection of Prints and Multiples: Online wechselte die Arbeit Architekturen (Architectures) für USD 252,00 (€ 228,26) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 800,00 – 1.200,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gerhard Merz erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Ohne Titel im Dezember 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 25.000,00.
