The work A set of six engraved maps depicting various parts of Scotland by Gerhard Mercator was sold in the European Noble and Private Collections auction at Christies in Amsterdam in December 2011. The result of EUR 1,500.00 was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of EUR 1,500.00 – 2,000.00. Other works by Gerhard Mercator have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in January 2024 the work “Taprobana” was auctioned for DKK 3,400.00 (€ 2,971.51).

Die Arbeit A set of six engraved maps depicting various parts of Scotland von Gerhard Mercator wurde im Dezember 2011 in der Auktion European Noble and Private Collections bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von EUR 1.500,00 entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von EUR 1.500,00 – 2.000,00. Andere Arbeiten von Gerhard Mercator konnten bereits höhere Auktionspreise erzielen, so wurde im Januar 2024 die Arbeit “Taprobana” für DKK 3.400,00 (€ 2.971,51) versteigert.
