In May 2000 Christies in Los Angeles held the auction California, Western and American Paintings, which included the work In the Shadow of the Canyon by Gerard Curtis Delano. The »bidding war« ended at USD 17,625.00 (€ 18,894.73), 18% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gerard Curtis Delano achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work In Bonnet And Paint, Early-Day Sioux Scouts in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 471,000.00 (€ 403,598.97).
