Sold at the lower estimate price
In September 2016 Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Curated, which included the work Tulips by Gerald Davis. The result of USD 6,000.00 (€ 5,339.03) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gerald Davis - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Pinocchio Under The Sea, which sold at auction in November 2007 for USD 28,000.00 (€ 19,063.18).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im September 2016 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Contemporary Curated durch, in der auch die Arbeit Tulips von Gerald Davis zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 6.000,00 (€ 5.339,03) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 6.000,00 – 8.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Gerald Davis mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Pinocchio Under The Sea beobachtet, die im November 2007 für USD 28.000,00 (€ 19.063,18) versteigert wurde.
