Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Indoor Athlete, First Stone by George Wesley Bellows was sold in the Tales of the City: New York Prints and Photographs of the Early 20th Century auction at Christies in Sydney in August this year. It achieved a price of USD 8,190.00 (€ 7,556.05), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 17%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Wesley Bellows achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Evening Swell in December 2013 with an auction result of USD 7,893,000.00 (€ 5,728,282.17).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Indoor Athlete, First Stone von George Wesley Bellows wurde im August diesen Jahres in der Auktion Tales of the City: New York Prints and Photographs of the Early 20th Century bei Christies in Sydney versteigert.
