GEORGE WESLEY BELLOWS (1882-1925) Dempsey and Firpo lithograph, on Basingwerk Parchment paper, 1923-1924, signed and titled in pencil, also signed and inscribed 'Bolton Brown imp.' in pencil, from the edition of 103, with wide margins, in generally good condition, framed Image: 18 x 22 3 ⁄ 8 in. (459 x 568 mm.) Sheet: 21 3 ⁄ 8 x 25 1 ⁄ 4 in. (543 x 641 mm.)

Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Wesley Bellows achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Evening Swell in December 2013 with an auction result of USD 7,893,000.00 (€ 5,728,282.17).

Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 81.900,00 (€ 75.560,48) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 64%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von George Wesley Bellows erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Evening Swell im Dezember 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 7.893.000,00 (€ 5.728.282,17).
