Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Counted Out, Second Stone by George Wesley Bellows was sold in the Tales of the City: New York Prints and Photographs of the Early 20th Century auction at Christies in Sydney in August this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 5,292.00 (€ 4,882.37) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Wesley Bellows achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Evening Swell in December 2013 with an auction result of USD 7,893,000.00 (€ 5,728,282.17).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Counted Out, Second Stone von George Wesley Bellows wurde im August diesen Jahres in der Auktion Tales of the City: New York Prints and Photographs of the Early 20th Century bei Christies in Sydney versteigert.
