GEORGE WESLEY BELLOWS (1882-1925) Between Rounds, Large, First Stone lithograph, on wove paper, 1916, also signed and inscribed 'Geo. Bellows J.B.B.' in pencil by Jean Bellows Booth, numbered 'no 33', from the edition of 58, with full margins, in very good condition, framed Sheet: 20 3 ⁄ 4 x 16 1 ⁄ 2 in. (527 x 419 mm.)
Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Between Rounds, Large, First Stone by George Wesley Bellows was sold in the Tales of the City: New York Prints and Photographs of the Early 20th Century auction at Christies in Sydney in August this year. Here, the upper estimate of USD 3,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 3,024.00 (€ 2,789.93). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Wesley Bellows achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Evening Swell in December 2013 with an auction result of USD 7,893,000.00 (€ 5,728,282.17).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Between Rounds, Large, First Stone von George Wesley Bellows wurde im August diesen Jahres in der Auktion Tales of the City: New York Prints and Photographs of the Early 20th Century bei Christies in Sydney versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 3.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 3.024,00 (€ 2.789,93) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von George Wesley Bellows erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Evening Swell im Dezember 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 7.893.000,00 (€ 5.728.282,17).
