This artwork by George Wesley Bellows achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Sydney in August this year. In the Tales of the City: New York Prints and Photographs of the Early 20th Century auction, the work A Stag at Sharkey's sold for USD 138,600.00 (€ 127,871.57) - well above the upper estimate of USD 70,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Wesley Bellows achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Evening Swell in December 2013 with an auction result of USD 7,893,000.00 (€ 5,728,282.17).
In der Auktion Tales of the City: New York Prints and Photographs of the Early 20th Century wurde die Arbeit A Stag at Sharkey's für USD 138.600,00 (€ 127.871,57) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 70.000,00.
