Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In April last year Bonhams in London held the auction The Marine Sale, which included the work Choppy waters off the Dutch coast, a government cutter running out to meet an English frigate beyond by George Webster. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 1,800.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 2,040.00 (€ 2,432.63). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Webster achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A thirty gun frigate of the blue squadron off Dover castle in choppy seas in July 2006 with an auction result of USD 45,600.00 (€ 35,725.48).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im April letzten Jahres führte Bonhams in London die Auktion The Marine Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Choppy waters off the Dutch coast, a government cutter running out to meet an English frigate beyond von George Webster zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 1.800,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 2.040,00 (€ 2.432,63) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von George Webster erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A thirty gun frigate of the blue squadron off Dover castle in choppy seas im Juli 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 45.600,00 (€ 35.725,48).
