Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In August 2011 Christies in New York held the auction Christie's Interiors, which included the work A 74 Gun Man-of-War approaching Harbour with a Frigate Leaving by George Webster. Here, the upper estimate of USD 6,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 6,875.00 (€ 4,772.32). Admittedly, works by George Webster have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A thirty gun frigate of the blue squadron off Dover castle in choppy seas in July 2006 with an auction result of USD 45,600.00 (€ 35,725.48).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im August 2011 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Christie's Interiors durch, in der auch die Arbeit A 74 Gun Man-of-War approaching Harbour with a Frigate Leaving von George Webster zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 6.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 6.875,00 (€ 4.772,32) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von George Webster auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A thirty gun frigate of the blue squadron off Dover castle in choppy seas im Juli 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 45.600,00 (€ 35.725,48).
