Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2000 Christies in London held the auction Maritime and Naval Battles, which included the work A Dutch three-master at anchor off the coast by George Webster. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 8,225.00 (€ 13,443.44) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Webster - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A thirty gun frigate of the blue squadron off Dover castle in choppy seas, which sold at auction in July 2006 for USD 45,600.00 (€ 35,725.48).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2000 führte Christies in London die Auktion Maritime and Naval Battles durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Dutch three-master at anchor off the coast von George Webster zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 8.225,00 (€ 13.443,44) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von George Webster mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A thirty gun frigate of the blue squadron off Dover castle in choppy seas beobachtet, die im Juli 2006 für USD 45.600,00 (€ 35.725,48) versteigert wurde.
