In May 2020 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Masters including Portrait Miniatures from the Pohl-Ströher Collection, which included the work Wooded River Landscape, With A Cathedral Beyond by George Smith of Chichester. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 10,000.00 (€ 11,101.10), 43% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Smith of Chichester - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A winter landscape with a haystack, cottages and figures, a river beyond; and A winter landscape with two figures crossing a wooden bridge, a village and a church beyond, which sold at auction in December 2011 for GBP 25,000.00 (€ 29,941.03).

Im Mai 2020 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Masters including Portrait Miniatures from the Pohl-Ströher Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit Wooded River Landscape, With A Cathedral Beyond von George Smith of Chichester zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 10.000,00 (€ 11.101,10) und damit 43% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von George Smith of Chichester mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A winter landscape with a haystack, cottages and figures, a river beyond; and A winter landscape with two figures crossing a wooden bridge, a village and a church beyond beobachtet, die im Dezember 2011 für GBP 25.000,00 (€ 29.941,03) versteigert wurde.
