In September 2009 Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Art, which included the work I Was Before The Blue Dog by George Rodrigue. The result of USD 30,000.00 (€ 20,505.81) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Admittedly, works by George Rodrigue have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work I Hear The Blues, I See The Blues, I Sing The Blues in March 2009 with an auction result of USD 170,500.00 (€ 128,572.51).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im September 2009 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit I Was Before The Blue Dog von George Rodrigue zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 30.000,00 (€ 20.505,81) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von George Rodrigue auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit I Hear The Blues, I See The Blues, I Sing The Blues im März 2009 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 170.500,00 (€ 128.572,51).
