Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by George Benjamin Luks achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in October 2015. In the American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture auction, the work Contemplation sold for USD 27,500.00 (€ 24,904.91) - well above the upper estimate of USD 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Benjamin Luks achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Lily Williams in May 2010 with an auction result of USD 1,874,500.00 (€ 1,515,482.25).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von George Benjamin Luks erzielte im Oktober 2015 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture wurde die Arbeit Contemplation für USD 27.500,00 (€ 24.904,91) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 12.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von George Benjamin Luks erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Lily Williams im Mai 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.874.500,00 (€ 1.515.482,25).
