The »bidding war« ended at USD 1,155,000.00 (€ 989,717.22), 65% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by George Benjamin Luks; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Lily Williams sold at auction in May 2010 with the realized price of USD 1,874,500.00 (€ 1,515,482.25).
