Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Swan Boats by George Benjamin Luks was auctioned at Christies in New York in May last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 500,000.00 – 700,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 380,000.00 (€ 354,114.25). Admittedly, works by George Benjamin Luks have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Lily Williams in May 2010 with an auction result of USD 1,874,500.00 (€ 1,515,482.25).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The Swan Boats von George Benjamin Luks im Mai letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 500.000,00 – 700.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 380.000,00 (€ 354.114,25) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von George Benjamin Luks auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Lily Williams im Mai 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.874.500,00 (€ 1.515.482,25).
