George L.K. Morris wrote of the present work, "I try to construct something that is a (usually rectangular) object, which will be beautiful as an object rather than a rendition of a beautiful object (or subject). In Labyrinth there is a suggestion of three-dimensional space, layer behind layer, until the eye comes to rest on a flat plane near the center." (unpublished letter, dated December 31, 1974)

Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2017 Christies in New York held the auction American Art Online, which included the work Labyrinth by George Lovett Kingsland Morris. It changed hands for a price of USD 68,750.00 (€ 57,782.82) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00. Other works by George Lovett Kingsland Morris have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in November 2021 the work Intrusion was auctioned for USD 68,750.00 (€ 60,910.78).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2017 führte Christies in New York die Auktion American Art Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit Labyrinth von George Lovett Kingsland Morris zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 68.750,00 (€ 57.782,82) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 50.000,00 – 70.000,00. Andere Arbeiten von George Lovett Kingsland Morris konnten bereits höhere Auktionspreise erzielen, so wurde im November 2021 die Arbeit Intrusion für USD 68.750,00 (€ 60.910,78) versteigert.
