It achieved a price of GBP 31,070.00 (€ 44,601.44), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 55%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Knapton - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait Of Lady Elizabeth Howard (1701-1739), Eldest Daughter Of Charles Howard, 3Rd Earl Of Carlisle, In Turkish Costume, which sold at auction in July 2012 for GBP 109,250.00 (€ 139,155.14).
